2024 Rules Update

Netball Australia have provided a memo on the 2024 rules updates. Along with adaptations to existing rules, particularly clarifications and streamlining of contact and advantage, the 2024 edition focuses on player safety and game management.

Umpire Trainee Programs - 2025

DATES will be published early in 2025


The Trainee program is run twice a year and open to associated members aged 12 years and 6 months as at the course start date. We encourage and welcome adults to register to attend. 

 

General Information - 

Practical Training will require weekly commitments to umpire:

·  7:45am games for approximately 5 weeks followed by the 8:45am games until your trainer is satisfied that you are capable of umpiring the 10:05am games.

·  Once you have more experience and have attained your RNA Umpires badge you will be moved onto higher games.

 

If you are unable to commit to the Training Program and Practical training components then do not Register as this takes the opportunity away from others that can commit.


Prerequisites – Must complete the Umpires Online Theory Test to attend

The Rules of Netball Theory Examination

The Rules of Netball Theory Examination tests the basic rules of the game. This is a Netball Australia Course - (cost $12.50) and a prerequisite for RNA Umpire Trainees 

It is an online examination that is accessible all year. A certificate is generated for all candidates who achieve a pass (70% or above). The most recent examination mark is the current result and Pass marks are valid for four years.

 It is highly recommended that prior to commencing this exam you read a copy of the Rules of Netball (2020).

Just a reminder for all spectators and teams – Please be respectful of the dedicated umpire space

You MUST give way to umpires on the goal line and wait while moving around the courts during GAME play.
